The newest release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 that was released in December 2014 proves to have positive influences for product enhancement. We were very excited to see that Employee Self Service is now a part of the web client and will be so much more user friendly. Business Portal was viewed through a web browser, but the setup and maintenance of it was very high level and demanded so much ongoing maintenance by an administrator that it may have made you want to pull your hair out. Starting with the release of Dynamics GP 2015, Business Portal will no longer be available and you will use Employee Self Service. Here are the top 5 features of Employee Self Service: |
Employee Self Service offers many of the functions that were available in Business Portal such as Requisitions, Payroll Self Service, Time Card Entry and Project Time and Expense Management. This is especially convenient when you have tasks that need to be completed by an employee who is not an end user of the application. Additonally, the Home Page now offers simpler navigation and the ability to view more important information than ever before. See the top 5 features of Dynamics GP 2015 Employee Self Service below.
1. Employee Self Service
Employee Self Service offers many functions for employees that eliminate some of the frequent on demand requests such as the ability to view and edit their address or dependents, emergency contacts and position history, make a change request to update their W-4 or Direct Deposit accounts (they will also have the ability to add or delete accounts or make distribution changes), view their benefits and employer contributions, skills and training history. Self-Service users can also view and/or print their pay stubs. The employee will have the ability to enter their time and submit it to a manager for approval by using one of the workflows that can be setup to route it through an approval process before being uploaded to the back office of GP. Other workflows are available for Direct Deposit change requests and W-4 change requests.
2. Requisitions
Requisitions allows for an employee to request inventoried and non-inventoried goods for purchase through the ease of entry and the ability to setup a workflow for process approvals.
3. Benefit Self Service
The Benefit Self Service functionality allows for staggered enrollment times, future effective benefits, and the ability for managers to push enrollment status to Excel and do some comprehensive reporting on it. The service also allows for document attachment.
4. Teams
Teams can be setup and assigned to managers so they can view and in some cases edit their employee’s data. Some of these functions include the employee profile, training/tests, skills, position history, contacts and education.
5. Human Resources & Payroll
HRP end users will have the ability to view a Navigation List and see their pending workflow tasks assigned to them and take action against the tasks. If you are already using Human Resources or Payroll or both, Employee Self Service allows you to take those modules to a whole new level like never before by expediting employee changes and taking them through the proper channels by using the approval workflows.
