It’s hard to believe, but 10 years ago no one even had an iPhone. WOW! Think about all that has changed, just in the scope of ‘cell phones’ – mind boggling, right?! George W. Bush was our President – am I the only one who feels like that was SO long ago? 10 years can seem like a lot… but is it really? Justin Bieber posted his first YouTube video 10 years ago. Miley Cyrus was still Hannah Montana… Oh my, I have to stop. I’m feeling very old right now. |
For those folks who use the Microsoft Dynamics GP sample company, ‘Fabrikam’ (formerly The World Online), you know that the default date is set to April 12, 2017. This date has seemed so far away to us all and now, 10 years later here it is, it’s Fabrikam Day.
What about the next 10 years? Think that what we do not know. Could you have imagined today’s world 10 years ago? Before you touched your first “I” device? A lot of us sat back and consumed all the changes that came our way – from new features in Dynamics GP, to new gadgets made available in every facet of our lives. GP has gained so much functionality over the past 10 years, it’s just awesome. One thing I DO know is that GP is a powerful and productive ERP solution that has a fantastic and strong user community. With that combination, the next 10 years will be very exciting! Microsoft continues to develop and improve Dynamics GP, GPUG continues to grow, the list of impressive ISV add-ons grows to meet business needs, and businesses are loving and learning new things about their ERP every day. What a great time it is, and what a great time it will be. So what does Fabrikam Day mean to me? To me, Fabrikam Day is a reminder. A reminder that time waits for no one. A reminder to be more of a driver of change, rather than a consumer of change. A reminder that it is ok to stop and celebrate the previous 10 years of success. And lastly, a reminder that the next 10 years will buzz by me so I better make them count. Happy Fabrikam Day! Here’s to April 12th, 2027... Now let’s get to work! |
